Behind the scenes: Shooting Autumn '15
There’s a real feeling of excitement when it comes to shooting our collections. It’s a moment when it feels like everything is really coming together – and we can’t ever wait to see the end result!
It takes a lot of prepping and planning ahead of the days we shoot – from finding the perfect location and models, to pressing and styling our Thoughtful Clothing. And our autumn/winter collection was no different. Here’s a bit of a peek behind the scenes at how it all went…
We wanted an urban space to reflect the new direction of the collection and all of our busy lives. The pieces of this collection, as always, have been designed to be really effortless to wear – so there was something about the juxtaposition of busy meets easy that we really loved.
The shoot took place in an old industrial warehouse in North London. It was freezing! Luckily, it didn’t rain for the outside shots, and we discovered lots of great spots with graphic backdrops or graffiti – we couldn’t help but feel they complemented our urban vibe.
For a change of scene we also took to our in-house showroom for some of the shots – playing with fun props for a contrasting atmosphere to the urban look.
A shift in the collection’s direction also made us keen to look out for fresh faces and age ranges that really felt like our customer. One of our models, Shalke, designs and crafts her own amazing collection of jewellery. We loved it so much you’ll see her wearing it throughout our Autumn/Winter creative.
PHOTOGRAPHY & MAKE-UP
We like to think of our shoot team as The A Team (nothing to do with the 80’s show, more to do with the fact they’re truly amazing!). We really couldn’t do it all without them. Shy and retiring as ever, huge thanks to June, as well as our lovely, part-of-the-family photographer Tara.
This bit’s very important to us! We kept our energy levels up throughout the long cold days with hundreds of cups of tea, warm, homemade sweet potato salad and veggie tagine, topped off with a whopping 12 chocolate bars.
All of us at Braintree hope you really love what we’ve done with the shoot. We’re so excited about the upcoming collection. What do you think so far? Let us know below, tweet us, or tell us on Facebook.
