Laura

How would you describe your blog to someone who doesn’t know it?

Wholeheartedly Healthy is a great place to be inspired to look at your health in a much more holistic way. I believe that health is so much more than just what you eat so alongside healthy recipes you’ll also find self-care and self-love tips and ideas and articles about intentional living.

What does living thoughtfully mean to you?

For me it’s about being conscious and intentional in as many ways as possible. It’s taking moments to be fully present each day, making intentional choices about how we spend our time and money and treating ourselves and the planet with kindness.

Why did you get into blogging and what is it about it you love?

I started blogging back in 2010 when I was looking for a way to share my new love of healthy living. My blog has changed and grown a lot in that time but I still love having it there as a creative outlet for me, as well as hopefully inspiring those who read it.

Where do you feel your most inspired?/ What inspires you?

I love spending time in nature whether that’s the coast, woods and local parks or just my garden. I feel calmer and more connected and that helps me to listen to my intuition more closely. I also love going to local markets and being inspired by the produce there for creating new recipes.

Who or what motivates you?

I’m incredibly motivated by the women in my online communities who show up for themselves every day and who are working on moving towards a more long term holistically healthy lifestyle. My son is also a huge motivation for me, I want to be the healthiest and happiest Mum I can be for him, while he also reminds me to take life a little less seriously and live more in the moment.

What are the words you live by?

I am enough – I’m sure I’m not alone in beating myself up around not feeling enough sometimes, so I always try and remind myself that I’m enough as I am right now.

What can our readers look forward to from your guest posts as a Thought contributor?

Delicious, healthy and seasonal recipes and lots of tips and ideas for living a wholeheartedly healthy life.

How would you describe your blog to someone who doesn’t know it?

Peas and Needles is a craft and lifestyle blog which I run in my spare time. I love to write about my love for weaving, the occasional inspiration post and sometimes the odd tutorial. I mainly focus on texture in different materials and how this always features in my work.

Why did you get into blogging and what is it about it you love?

When I first graduated as a Graphic Designer I felt like I needed a home for all my crafts so I can log them. I find this fascinating that now I can go back and look back at all my posts and see how my style and skills have developed. I also love the interaction it brings with other bloggers and with people with the same interests.

Where do you feel your most inspired?

I think living in Brighton and being surrounded by the vast amount of creativity down here is definitely inspiring. You can never be bored and it is always a treat to sit down by the beach when there is a spot of sunshine. This helps me to focus and then I go home all inspired to create new projects. I do love living here.

Do you have a role model? Who motivates you?

I have a really solid group of friends who are mainly creative and run their own businesses also. I find that they really inspire me and push me a long when things are a bit tough. I’ve also just rented a new studio space so this definitely helps to motivate me. I would also say the weaver Maryanne Moodie and the potter Lucie Rie are extremely inspiring women and I love their work.

What are the words you live by?

I don’t really have any particular words or sayings I live by, I guess the only thing I can think of would be to ‘keep going’ I think that’s pretty appropriate to my life and my business.

What does living thoughtfully mean to you?

For me it’s all about being healthy and looking out for others. Try to be happy in yourself and have confidence in what you do.  I think that’s about it, its always harder than it sounds though.

What can our readers look forward to from your guest posts as a Thought contributor?

I’m excited to be creating a woven wall hanging using all recycled materials. Unravelling jumpers for wool and using wood from the garden to hang the weave from. Hopefully it’ll look natural and inspire you to make your own.

Sophie

How would you describe your blog to someone who doesn’t know it?

Soph’s Choices is a blog dedicated to promoting health and wellness from nutrition and fitness to inner alignment and compassion. I am a keen advocate of living sustainably and cruelty-free with simple methods that suit every home and lifestyle. My topics range from minimalism and zero waste to veganism and wellness and every post is designed with clean, simple, green living in mind.

Why did you get into blogging and what is it about it you love?

As soon as I learned to write I haven’t been able to stop. As a child I wrote short fiction, as a teenager I kept dairies and journals and when I left for university I decided to study English Literature and Film. After leaving education I felt a lack and missed having writing assignments. So I began a blog. It’s a creative outlet I just wouldn’t be able to live without. It’s innate within me.

What would you say inspires you the most?

Being a natural born empath I have the strong urge to help the overlooked and down-trodden. Knowing that there’s a way to stop mass suffering on a huge scale with a simple, effective and wonderful remedy empowers me to share. Sharing the vegan message is important to me and inspires me. Hearing how it’s uplifted and healed so many people keeps me motivated to share more. Ethical living takes many forms and living a life of less waste, less ‘stuff’ and more consciousness and greater awareness is inspiring and motivating. I feel my most inspired in nature and listening to those who have also benefited from a more conscious and compassionate way of living.

Do you have a role model? Who motivates you?

I am immediately motivated when I get a message from a subscriber or reader of my blog telling me that what I wrote has impacted them. That’s magical. My role models are those who are breaking free of their constraints, social or personal, and doing what they love, finding their passions, going against the grain, working towards a better future not only for themselves but for everyone.

What are the words you live by?

“Nothing is as strong as gentleness or as gentle as strength.”
