Thoughtful Steps 2019
We are so happy to announce that in 2019 our #ThoughtfulSteps charity socks campaign was incredibly successful. We were able to donate 22,000 pairs of socks to help homeless and vulnerable people across the UK and beyond. We want to thank everyone who got involved in our campaign and a big thank you to Crisis and Crisis at Christmas for all the amazing work they do.

We’re pleased to announce that once again, we’ll be holding our #ThoughtfulSteps charity socks campaign this winter. For every pair of socks purchased on our website in December, we are donating a pair to Crisis. The socks will be sent to their warehouse to be distributed around Crisis shops in the UK, all sales of the socks will go towards the cause of ending homelessness.
#ThoughtfulSteps Charity Socks: buy a pair this December and we will donate a pair to charity.
That’s right, if you buy a pair of socks from us this December, you’re donating to help end homelessness. What better reason to treat yourself or your loved ones this Christmas?
Thought’s founder, John says, “This year we are supporting Crisis for our annual Thoughtful Steps campaign because we believe that a little bit of Thought can make a big difference, which is why we love to champion sustainable Christmas shopping choices that also give back to the local community. We hope this will inspire others to think about how they can help those in need.”
Ian Richards, Head of Crisis at Christmas, said: “I am stunned by the big-heartedness of our supporters and especially at Christmas time.”
Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We are committed to ending homelessness. Every day we see the devastating impact homelessness has on people’s lives. Each year we work side by side with thousands of people, to help them rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good.
We understand that a safe, stable place to live gives us all the security and confidence we need to thrive. When we all have a place to call our own, we then have the best chance of being healthy, having a job and feeling part of society. However, due to rising pressure from the costs of maintaining and keeping a home and low incomes many in Britain are struggling to keep their head above water.
Without the right support at the right time, a sudden increase in pressure, like losing a job, becoming ill, or leaving home to get out of an abusive relationship, can quickly force people over the edge and they can find themselves with no one to turn to and nowhere to go. This can be more pronounced at Christmas time when support services are limited.
That’s why at Christmas our service offer is stepped up. We mobilise a huge volunteer effort to bring vital services, warmth and companionship to people at one of the hardest times of the year. Our Christmas centres can be an entry point for our guests to our year-round support and training and offer them their first steps to ending their homelessness.
Together with others who share our resolve, we bring our knowledge, experience and determination to campaign for the changes that will prevent and end homelessness once and for all.
Homelessness is rising, but we know it can be solved. We know that together we can end it.
