Hosting a Clothes Swap is a great way to declutter your wardrobe, discover new styles and support an amazing charity. It’s so easy we’ve broken it down into four simple steps:

STEP 1

Choose a donations charity (we recommend TRAID as they can pick up your clothes free of charge!)

STEP 2

Invite your friends and family. Ask your attendees to aim to bring 5 items. But don’t pressure them to HAVE to bring 5 as some people may not be able to, encourage as many people to come along as you want, more attendees means more swapping options!

STEP 3

Make sure you have an area to display clothes, a rack and hangers prepared for your guests to put their items straight on it when they arrive would be ideal. Have drinks and nibbles prepared to kill a bit of time whilst you arrange the clothes – whether by colour or items to make them easier to navigate during the swap!

STEP 4

Leftover items will be donated to your chosen charity.

About TRAID:

TRAID is a charity working to stop clothes from being thrown away. We turn clothes waste into funds and resources to reduce the environmental and social impacts of our clothes. It is a circular and sustainable approach to the problems of clothes waste tackling disposal, production and consumption by:-

  • Increasing clothes reuse across the UK reducing waste, carbon emissions and consumption
  • Funding international development projects to improve conditions and working practices in the textile industry
  • Educating people of all ages about the impacts of textiles on the environment and people’s lives, and how we can make more sustainable choices
