Meet the Team - Alex, Key Accounts Manager
As a small business we thought it would be great for you, our community, to get to know some of the team here at Thought.
Meet Alex, our Key Accounts Manager with a love of the outdoors! Keep reading to find out about what she is doing to pass the time and her favourite Thought pieces.
What’s your favourite part of your job at Thought?
I love meeting people and building relationships with a wide range of stores, from independent boutiques to department stores. While sharing and promoting Thought’s sustainability ethos.
Where are you currently living?
I normally live in London with friends however since lockdown I have been back in my home town of Bristol living with my parents, younger sister April and a very mischievous cockapoo called Theo.
What’s one way you are living more thoughtfully?
We are having fresh fruit and veg boxes delivered to us weekly from our local farm shop https://www.brockleystores.co.uk/ who cook, bake and source fresh and local food, their quiches in particular are delicious!
What are you missing the most during these times?
I am of course missing my friends and enjoying London life together. However weekly zoom calls and Saturday night quizzes helps!
What’s keeping you grounded and positive?
I have been practising yoga daily and have taken up the 30 day yoga challenge with Adrianne, I really enjoy these 20 minutes of calm each morning. I also love to run and explore the local country side and recently took part in the Run for Hero’s 5K.
Have you started trying your hand at anything new?
I am very guilty of having lots of half-finished craft projects on the go and therefore have really appreciated the time to stop and actually finish them! I have just completed a knitted cushion cover and am half way through painting an old chest of drawers that needed a new lease of life. I have also loved getting the watercolours out again.
What have you been cooking?
I recently made a pavlova for the first time which I was quite proud off! It was surprisingly easier than I thought using this recipe from Jamie Oliver https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/fruit-recipes/summer-berry-pavlova/ We have also been attempting sourdough pizzas on the BBQ to varying degrees of success!
Who, or what is inspiring you right now?
All the incredible people who are risking their own lives to protect others right now, from the NHS heroes to police offers and firefighters.
How do you think we can all live more thoughtfully?
By being forced to slow down and stand still for a while means I am appreciating the simple things so much more. I think we can easily get caught up in the busyness of life and taking certain things for granted. I am very much enjoying the little things at the moment from a freshly brewed cup of tea in the morning, to the bluebells that have sprung up in our local woods and sunny blue skies.
What’s your favourite piece from our SS20 Collection?
I have been living in my dashka bamboo slacks (I now have three pairs!) they are so soft and perfect for staying super comfy while working from home. My favourite pair at the moment is the Ammonite Bamboo Slacks worn with the Kate coral jumper.
