We’d love to introduce you to Banasa, the Co-Founder of sustainable hair care brand, Ksoni. Inspired by nature, and motivated by the circular economy, we are proud to have added this innovative brand to our collection of Thoughtful Brands. We spent some time with Banasa in their London office, and got to know a bit more about the brand. Read on to discover more.

Ksoni means “Earth” in Sanskrit, and that speaks to me as a former yoga instructor and my co-founder who is ethnically Indian, and for us it represents not only our relationship to the Earth but also the relationship to each other, people together living on this Earth.
I usually start my day between 6.30am-7:30am and start by a meditation, followed by setting my intention for the day. This is also when I write in my journal, I write my word of the day and my gratitudes. Shortly after, I usually travel to the office and check my emails on the way. My typical day usually has quite a lot of meetings, so I’m on Zoom and the phone a lot. No two days are the same, but I’m focused on the expansion plan for the business – the supply chain, growing our team and products. Other days it’s marketing, working on our finances, or with our advisors. One day of the week I also like to think about how Ksoni will look like in the future. I will also go to the gym to try and break up a typical 9am-5pm. Finally, I will typically close my laptop at 10pm.
At Ksoni, living more sustainably means continuously improving the sustainability practises in the business. This includes improving the traceability of our ingredients which is what we’re currently working on with our new contract manufacturer to ensure that our ingredients are sourced ethically and sustainably.On a personal level, I’ve been thinking about the circularity of the items I have, particularly glass. I don’t use a lot of plastic in my day to day but I do think about glass and if there’s a better way to reuse it as opposed to throwing it and recycling it.
I would choose the Jivati Collection because we created that to be a gender neutral scent. The blend of bergamot, frankincense and jojoba essential oils give it a wonderful aromatic and woody scent.
The hope and dream is to increase the accessibility of the products i.e. accessible where out target consumer shop, so most stores. My other aspiration is to always truly measure the impact that we are making, not just sustainability wise but also increasing access and options to the underserved hair types that we made the products for.
