Into the blue
The colour of calm, the ocean and our beautiful sky above, blue is a hue we feature a lot in our latest collection. Deep-dive into its dreamy depths and discover why it’s such a versatile styling option.
Blue is the hue of calm
A colour that features in so many elements of nature, blue is known for its calming qualities. It’s considered to be a colour of tranquility and peace.
"The deeper the blue becomes, the more strongly it calls man towards the infinite, awakening in him a desire for the pure and, finally, for the supernatural... The brighter it becomes, the more it loses its sound, until it turns into silent stillness and becomes white." Artist Wassily Kandinsky
Blue is the new black
When it comes to styling, blue is a softer alternative to black - in fact designer Christian Dior once commented that “midnight blue is the only colour that can even compete with black”.
A blue block-colour knit or trousers will pair just as gorgeously with a patterned blouse yet offer a less stark look than black - but a little more depth than grey.
Blue prints
Here at Thought, we’re known for our limited-run, unique patterns, often inspired by the mesmerising world around us, from the trees to the seas. A number of our prints this season nod to blue as a rich ground shade which lets other palette shades shine, just as the sky holds the stars.
“Blue has no dimension. It is beyond dimensions.” Artist Yves Klein
