Our stockists mean so much to us here at Thought, so what better way to celebrate them by giving them the spotlight so you can get to know them too. Green Butik, based in Czech Republic, is an online and retails store focusing on fairtrade fashion. Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started?
My husband Radim and I live in a beautiful, historical home in the city of Zlin. We share our house with our little pet rabbit which we got at the beginning of the spring lockdown, and our furry friend keeps bringing us a lot of joy and much needed distraction in these trying times and teaches our daughter kindness and respect towards animals, too.
When I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted to order fairtrade clothing for myself which would not look like a potato bag. I was not able to find anything interesting in our country back then, but I have discovered a lot of interesting brands abroad — one of them was Thought (Braintree back then). I fell in love with the clothes immediately and quite on a whim decided to start an online business and sell these great brands in the Czech Republic.
My husband Radim set up a website and slowly we started to build it up from there. One year later and we now have opened our first little store in Zlin and since then we have had to move five times already as we keep growing.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
What I love most about my job is the variability. Every day is very different and it brings new challenges. This year we have opened a Green Butik store in our capital, Prague and we have also launched a German version of our website. That means we never get bored.
I enjoy communicating with our colleagues on a daily basis and making sure we do everything we can to keep our lovely customers happy. I also enjoy seeing the new collections for the new seasons and then choosing and ordering the most beautiful pieces.
Please share one way you are living more thoughtfully?
Since we have moved to our house we have started a compost in our garden which I love to take care of. We put all of the kitchen scraps (unless our rabbit eats it) and garden waste in there. This year we have got our first compost out of it which we used in our garden. It seems like the perfect nature cycle and we enjoy being able to observe the process on a daily basis.
What is your favourite piece from our AW20 and why?
The AW20 collection is full of wonderful pieces. My favourite pieces would definitely be the Enid dress and the Delville dress as I love berry and red colours. My husband Radim enjoys the organic cotton trousers and hemp t-shirts. And we of course love Thought bamboo socks in all the new designs. But what I appreciate most about Thought in general is the use of many natural materials across the lines and the broad choice of garments and accessories which effectively means you can be dressed from head to toe just in Thought (as I often am).
