While summer is in full swing (British weather and all!) there's an abundance of outdoor events taking place around the UK. And it isn't just
festivals, how does fossil hunting, a family orchard trail or a watching sword dancing sound? Read on to see some of the fun summer activities to pencil into your diary over the coming months.
Scarborough Seafest, North Yorkshire
24th - 26th July
Over the course of the weekend, there’s so much you can do – from watching seafood-cooking demos to fossil hunting, creative workshops and independent market and craft stalls. You'll catch glimpses of impressive sea-inspired costumes as you walk around and the whole event draws to a close with a grand fireworks finale. Free.

Shakespeare Under the Stars, Brownsea Island, Dorset
22nd July - 7th August
Watch The Tempest unfold in the open air - within a beautifully picturesque harbour setting in Poole. Tickets are £21 and organisers recommend bringing a picnic so you can full enjoy the island's spectacular sights and wildlife ahead of the play.

Highland games, various locations, Scotland
Culture, sport and fun are the order of the day at the historic Highland Games. Watch everything from sword dancing, caber tossing, and Tug O’ War (usually in full Scottish national dress), and enjoy music, food and potential world record-breaking taking place.
