Where to wander, what to wear: August
A whole new month has arrived, and if you’ve got some time to explore the Capital, we’ve got some great suggestions on where to head. We’ll also offer some style (and accessory) tips so you look and feel your best wherever you wander.
For cinema night
It might be summer, but as we all know, that doesn’t necessarily mean wall-to-wall sunshine. Worry not - because this is also the season of the cinema blockbuster. If you haven’t seen them yet, why not try the much-anticipated Oppenheimer or Barbie and see what all the fuss is about. Or, for a pure adrenaline rush, we highly recommend Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning.
What to wear
Go cosy! We reckon movie night is a time to don your favourite comfy separates, be it those jeans you love or those great-fitting yet laid-back culottes and a supersoft cardi. Popcorn in hand and you’re good to go.
For the garden visit
For the days when the rain seems to be holding off, why not consider a garden visit? London is one of the greenest capital cities in the world, so there really is nowhere better to explore nature. We recommend Kew Gardens for a full day trip, Kyoto Garden in Holland Park for a less well-known option or Eltham Palace for a truly impressive indoor experience too.
What to wear
We love the idea of going for a nature-inspired look for an outing like this - and we have some beautiful floral dresses we think will fit the bill perfectly!
Add comfy boots for walking and a supersoft knit and there’s no need to let the weather spoil your outdoor day.
For the open-air theatre trip
Theatre takes to the outdoors for a number of weeks during the summer, so why not enjoy some drama under the open sky? Watch A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream at The Globe or Alice in Wonderland at Kew Gardens. Finally, La Cage Aux Folles has had a revival for 2023 - catch it in Regents Park until mid-September.
What to wear
If you’re going to be enjoying the show on a picnic blanket, we think the one-and-done can't go wrong jumpsuit is the perfect option. Pair with one of our classic parkas for a truly contemporary look while you take in a beautifully cultured evening.
For the festival or arts event
Summer means a whole host of music events across London and just outside, such as Hampton Court Palace Festival, The Great British Beer Festival and Park Nights at the Serpentine Gallery
What to wear:
Keep it casual with denim - or chambray if you prefer a slightly softer feel to your fabric. We love a dress for days out because they’re so easy to move in - and dance in, if that’s the way the day goes!
Remember to layer up with a good quality rain jacket just in case the heavens open. And be sure to check out our scarves to add some colour pops and pattern and a little warmth if you're still out as the evening draws in.
