LOUNGING WITH THE TEAM
As we spend more time at home, comfort is king. We step inside the homes of our team and chat to them about our new season loungewear essentials and what they do to relax in lockdown — plus, their tips for staying positive at home.
JAYMINI
How long have you been working for Thought and what is your role?
I’ve been working at Thought since the summer of 2017 as a PA/EA to the directors, John and Rachel.
What have you been doing to keep busy while being at home, and how do you stay motivated?
My husband has been teaching my son and I a form of martial arts called Wing Chun. We are at the boring stage of learning the first form (very repetitive) so that is keeping us busy. I also spending time googling how to look after my house plants. I’ve become a bit obsessed with having green in my house.
What advice would you give to help people relax and unwind?
Listen to more music. We are music lovers in our house, we listen to every type genre. We have also set up a Whatsapp chat with our friends called Jukebox. There is no chatting in this group. We only upload music links. We can tell from the music posted, what mood people are in. If we feel like someone might seem low for the song they have posted, we give them a call.
What do you love most about our loungewear, and why is it an essential right now?
Just how soft our loungewear feels on my skin. And the fact it trendy, it doesn’t look like I’m wearing my pj’s all day long. With all the eating I’m doing I need something that is stretchy enough for the extra pounds I feel like I have put on!
What are your favourite pieces from the new collection?
Atkins V-Neck Dashka Printed Jersey Jumpsuit – I love the print and the Dashka Comfy Bamboo Loungepants – love the waistband on these bottoms.
What are your top tips for staying positive and happy right now?
Limit your news consumption. I actually only watch or read the news every few days. I realised that when I was watching the news everyday it would stress me out. This situation we are all in is uncontrollable. Don’t focus on what you can not control, instead focus on making others happy. We do this by video calling someone different every few days.
What are you doing to live more thoughtfully at the moment?
Really cutting down on food waste. Using leftovers to create new dishes the next day for lunch or dinner. Replanting sprouted garlic cloves and sprouted onions, that otherwise I may have disposed of in the past.

How long have you been working for Thought and what is your role?
I have been working at Thought for 18 months now – I can’t believe how fast the time has gone! I am an area sales manager looking after independent shops in the U.K.
What have you been doing to keep busy while being at home, and how do you stay motivated?
I’ve done loads of cooking – as I have had more time to spend preparing and finding locally sourced ingredients. I have a four year old son so we’ve been trying various activities to keep him occupied around home-schooling.
What advice would you give to help people relax and unwind?
I would say to have a nice calming candle on, something like lavender and getting stuck into a good book or a series. I try and allocate some time each week for some self care, like a face mask or a bath with essential oils.
What do you love most about our loungewear and why it is an essential right now?
I love that our loungewear is so versatile, it’s not too clingy and very breathable so good for working, lounging or doing some exercise like Pilates or yoga. As we aren’t going anywhere it is the new staple outfit in your wardrobe. Feeling comfortable and as relaxed as possible is a priority when we are spending a lot of time at home.
What are your favourite pieces from the new collection?
The Madelyn loungewear collection is perfect for this time of year (and the circumstances) and the tie dye range will be sure to brighten your day! I love the new Eliza Seacell tee, it's such a great fabric.
What are your top tips for staying positive and happy right now?
I’ll be staying positive by looking forward to the lighter and longer days and to stay hopeful that better days are coming. I make sure I drink plenty of water and taking part in some form exercise to release those endorphins that make you happy!
What are you doing to live more thoughtfully at the moment?
I’m only really using locally sourced food produce and reducing my plastic use, I have just bought some bees wax wraps and ditched cling film!

How long have you been working for Thought and what is your role?
I am the eComm and lifestyle photographer, and have been for 12 years.
What have you been doing to keep busy while being at home, and how do you stay motivated?
The last lockdown was during hot and sunny weather and living next to a lovely beach made it feel like a holiday. This time we're hunkered in and just getting on with things.
Work and school work is keeping us motivated because there's no time to stop! But we get by looking forward to the warmer months.
What advice would you give to help people relax and unwind?
Gardening is a great way to feel part of something more significant! Even this time of year there is plenty to do. If you don't have a garden then grow indoors or on a balcony, perhaps an allotment. Growing things to eat is the best. I don't like exercising much, but an off-road run always gives me a tremendous feeling of wellbeing.
What do you love most about our loungewear and why it is an essential right now?
I LOVE the feel of the natural, good-quality fabrics against my skin. It's absolutely essential because we're home all the time - I'm busy with the children and doing so many more chores, plus working from home at my desk or on the sofa! I still feel smart in my loungewear — it's a new way of dressing and I won't go back!
What are your favourite pieces from the new collection?
I love the jumpsuits! Especially the bamboo ones, they are so comfortable to wear and a one-piece is not only easy to just throw on in the morning, they are also stylish — never mumsy or slobby.
What are your top tips for staying positive and happy right now?
Stick to a routine — getting up early and getting busy. Don't stop your skincare regime, eat healthy and stay hydrated, get out amongst nature every day. All of this gives me a good base for feeling normal and not out of control (in this time of deep uncertainty). The clocks go forward in just a few weeks!
What are you doing to live more thoughtfully at the moment?
We've been customers of Ecotricity for about 13 years now and have been spreading the word to try and get people to convert to 100 green energy — it's so easy! We are using our food waste to replenish the soil in the garden for more growing. The children often go down to the seafront to do their own beach-clean, collecting plastic and other rubbish to put in the bin or recycle.

How long have you been working for Thought and what is your role?
I joined the Thought team in summer last year as the Content Marketing Manager.
What have you been doing to keep busy while being at home, and how do you stay motivated?
Finding a routine is absolutely key for me. I force myself to get outside before the workday starts (no matter the weather) so that I’m walking the dog and getting fresh air. Online pilates classes have also been brilliant for keeping not just my mind but my body healthy.
What advice would you give to help people relax and unwind?
Journaling is a great way to unwind and deconstruct your day — it’s a bit like therapy! Finding a great podcast, a relaxing bath, even a good Netflix series all helps with chilling out.
What do you love most about our loungewear and why it is an essential right now?
The fabric is unbelievably soft. I am living in my Emerson slacks at the moment because they’re just so soft and comfortable. When you’re at home you don’t want anything restrictive — loungewear is perfect for offering comfort but also still looking ‘put together’.
What are your favourite pieces from the new collection?
The Emersons without question. I might beg the company to make them in every colour under the rainbow just so I can wear them constantly! I do love the jumpsuits too though.
What are your top tips for staying positive and happy right now?
I’m all for affirmations at the moment. Whether you write them down or say them out loud, I think just that feeling of self-encouragement and talking kindly to yourself can be quite powerful.
What are you doing to live more thoughtfully at the moment?
My 2021 resolution is to limit waste, so everything from reducing plastic usage to making meals go further, and I’ve recently donated around half my wardrobe to charity shops in my local area.
