Feeling the blues this winter? Well you’re not the only one. So many of us here in the UK are affected by the colder seasons, so I’ve put together 5 simple ways to help boost your mood, reduce stress and beat winter blues!
How to Beat Winter Blues: Hannah’s Top Tips
1. Wrap up and go out for a walk
It’s easy to put exercise to one side during the winter months, but just 10 minutes of exercise is proven to boost your mood and lower anxiety. Plus, being exposed to natural light will help regulate your sleep-wake cycle (which can be thrown off during shorter days) helping you sleep better.
2. Bring the outdoors in
If you aren’t able to spend time in natural daylight (whether that’s outdoors or near a window), try bringing some fresh plants into your work space or your home. Not only are they beautiful to look at but they help reduce stress levels, freshen the air and eliminate harmful toxins. Check out our blog post on air cleaning plants
here.
3. Get creative
Studies have shown that creative activities can increase your sense of well-being. So whether it’s painting, writing, baking or crafts, try spending a couple of hours a week doing something creative. Take a look at

4. Immerse yourself in a book
Cosy up with a good book. Reading is powerful and can sweep you away into another world. Plus it’s been proven that reading can help increase self-confidence, lower anxiety, improve sleep, and generally change the way we think. Check out our

5. Spend time with friends and family
Plan activities with your loved ones. Social interaction helps lift your mood and keep your mind and emotions engaged, whether it’s just a phone conversation, a small gathering or just a trip out with a friend. Plus it’s always nice having a date in the diary to look forward to!
