We started Thoughtful Friday back in 2015, because we wanted to create an alternative to Black Friday that gives back to the community rather than promoting excessive consumerism. On this day each year, we donate 50% of sales (not profit) to a charity; and this year we split the amount between Black Minds Matter and The Trussell Trust. On this Thoughtful Friday, with your support, we have been able to raise more than ever!
Both charities have shared their appreciation, and have told us a little bit about how the money will be used. Read on to discover more.
We caught up with the team at Black Minds Matter who are delighted with the donation. Black Minds Matter began earlier this year, and having the support of the Thought community has meant so much.
Through this donation they will be able to provide approximately 13 Black individuals with 12 sessions of free therapy; connecting them with qualified Black therapists and ensuring that they are able to begin their journey of healing.
The team at The Trussell Trust have expressed heartfelt thanks for the donations made possible by you. This year, an increasing number of people have accessed food banks. Research suggests an additional 670,000 people will be destitute by the end of the year, meaning they won't be able to afford basic necessities such as food, energy and housing. The money raised on Thoughtful Friday will go towards offering support to people who are struggling to afford food, and put steps in place to ensure they won't need to rely on food banks in the future.
Once again, thanks for shopping with us this Thoughtful Friday, and helping us to help others.
