Try An Alternative To Christmas Dishes

The Christmas season often involves lots of food and drink. Usually what springs to mind are turkey dinners, cheese boards and steaming puddings. However, just because these things are part of tradition, it doesn't mean we can't opt for alternatives to these dishes. Read on as we suggest other food options for the festive period.

Christmas Nut Roast

This is a nut roast with a twist; made with lentils, squash and dates, this dish is packed with sweet and savoury flavours.

Savoury Spiced Baklava

Try this delicious take on a baklava; traditionally a sweet pastry dish from Turkey. Filled with delicious seasonal vegetables this dish makes for a perfect substitute for a turkey; and great for leftovers.

Root Vegetable Pithivier

This vegan pie is filling, wholesome and guaranteed to be a favourite around the table. The colour of the beetroot gives the dish a rich, festive look and will take pride of place in the middle of the table.

Hasselback Squash

The hasselback squash is simple to make, and can be made with goats cheese, or a dairy free alternative for a vegan. With minimal preparation needed, pop your squash in the oven and serve alongside your main course.

Pumpkin, Fig and Goats Cheese Tart

A perfect vegetarian main course for the Christmas period; this tart is creamy and sweet, but with a kick, thanks to the goats cheese. Serve with a green salad and pomegranate seeds.
