It’s easy to get caught up in today’s fast-paced society. And it’s important to take a step back, unwind and take some time to yourself. Read on to discover ten wellbeing tips to do every day to help boost your mood and relieves stress.
Wellbeing Tips: 10 little things to do each day
Start the day right
Make time to do what makes you happy first thing in the morning. Whether it’s getting outside for a walk, doing yoga, spending some time with your family or your pet, or simply making a cup of tea.
Stretch, meditate
Take time to stretch. It reduces stress, relieves pain, increases productivity, brings you into to the present and helps the circulatory system and organs. Check out our
early morning yoga sequence. And if you work in a busy office, you will find my
yoga exercises to practice at your desk useful too.
Spend time with nature
This might mean being around animals, in the middle of a forest or in your local park. Exercising or just being. If you work in an office, it’s also great to get out for breaks in the daylight, helping to regulate your sleep wake cycle (in winter especially) and doing wonders for your mood.
Take pride in your little rituals
Have something small that you love doing every day, just because. It could be something as simple as drinking a pint of water when you wake up each morning, or what you wear on Wednesdays.
Give something or help someone
Whether it’s giving a compliment, a donation, a smile or even doing something simple like opening a door for someone, this action of giving releases feel-good chemicals and spurs you to perform more kind acts - something psychologists call "helper's high."
Write it down
Studies show that putting our feelings onto paper makes us feel more positive. Get scribbling!
Consider what you’re good at
Think of something you know that you’re good at and find an opportunity to do it today - you’ll feel great for it.
Have a clear-out
Decluttering your space can make you feel less stressed, more organised and more positive. Check out my
wardrobe clear out tips for ideas on how to get started.
Tick off something that you’ve been meaning to do for ages
The sense of achievement we feel when we tick something off our to-do list causes happy chemicals to be released by the brain. Even something as small as sewing on a button could do the trick!
Get away from technology
Putting your phone down once in a while does wonders. It helps you have time to think, reconnect with those around you, step away from multitasking and creates some peace in your life. Check out my digital detox ideas
