We know you’re longing to see our new Spring Summer 2018 collection… but first here’s a little peak behind the scenes, to discover more about our design inspiration and shoot location.
This season, our loungewear collection interprets freshly sprung blooms as abstract artworks and incorporates grey marl, blueberry and storm grey, creating a softer, luxe sport look.
Our Spring Collection comes in two parts, representing two contrasting cultures. The first, ‘Sashiko’ is inspired by Japan’s rural landscapes, traditions and arts. And the second, ‘Nature’s Poet’ takes from the beauty of the British countryside and the poetry it inspires – particularly that of William Wordsworth.
Our Summer collection, ‘Distant Shores’ takes from the tropic climates of the coast, and a wealth of life, colour and inspiration that’s found there. Deep sea greens, sand dune pinks and sundown apricot become the shades to evoke idyllic surroundings this summer.
Now over to our fantastic photographer Tara, to tell you about our two shoot locations…
“For our first location we ventured to a secret garden in West London. It was an extremely hot day, but the sunshine gave us some great shots. Our assistant had to keep running to get more water to keep us hydrated, as there was little shade. Similarly to last season, Rachel made us another one of her cracking lunches – a colourful spread of delicious savouries and salads.”
“Our in-house studio is such a great space with a fresh feel and lovely natural light. This season we aimed to use the space as imaginatively as possible, and created several different looks for our contrasting collection stories – all in the one room!
“For the first look, Becky sourced lots of beautiful hanging plants. I created a set against a white wall, suspending the plants from the ceiling for the model to move between. This was the perfect backdrop for our Sashiko collection with the sharp blues, bold reds and bright white contrasting beautifully.
“For the second look we painted one of our studio walls grey and hung some beautiful framed artworks including some of Becky’s pieces, to create a welcoming, homely feel. This worked perfectly for our Natures Poet collection, which combines lots of greys and mustards with arty accents.
“For the third look we created a fake wall and painted it dusky pink. This was a simple but lovely backdrop for our Distant Shores collection which features more subtle colours like rose pink, pebble grey, pastel blue and apricot, reminding us of sea shells, coral and far-flung exotic beaches.
“To add some variety to the shots, we used a gobo light, which created shapes and shades around our model, like high-summer shadows.
“For our model, we used the lovely Elee from Mrs Robinson agency – she enjoyed hanging out with us and said that our clothes were the most comfortable she’d ever modelled in!
As usual, a huge thank you to our hard working team – Tara behind the camera, John on the lights, June on the hair and makeup, Becky snapping all of our behind the scenes pictures and Lindsey, Jo and Ellie from our design team who help the shoot run nice and smoothly.
