What’s the Name of Your Shop and When Did it Open?
My shop is called Stepping Out and we opened on 15th Oct 1995.
What is Your Role?
I’m the proprietor; window dresser, buyer, merchandiser, book keeper, styling customers and media: basically everything!
What is Your Favourite Part of the Role?
Buying and styling customers.
How Did You Get Into it?
Mainly through a love of fashion; I started by doing clothes parties in peoples houses and fetes etc when my children were very young. I opened the shop 1 week after my eldest child started primary school- on a “wing and a prayer” but with friends helping when needed and students doing 3-5pm so i could do the school pick ups.
Where do You Live?
I moved to Midhurst, west Sussex 37 years ago and met my husband here.
Please Share One Way You Are Living More Thoughtfully
I have seen my eldest daughter Joanna survive Leukaemia at just 8 years old, and she is now 30. I had cancer 3 years ago – and I’m excited my other daughter is expecting her first baby due in January 2021!
What is Your Favourite Piece From AW20?
Were loving the Fairtrade organic cottons in the t-shirts, and they look great with the Marci Jacket!
